As we know that strength in the hands and wrists is a huge asset to a smooth and powerful golf swing allowing us to swing with less tension and unhinge the club with more authority at the ball, would it not make sense to maximize our ability to ‘hang on to the club’ during the swing? And if that is the case, why would anyone want to try to play their best golf with old worn out slippery grips on their clubs? Yes indeed, it is that time of the year again to check your equipment. Clean your grips with some warm soapy water and if you find that you can still see your reflection in them after you have dried them off, it is time to have them replaced. There is no better feeling than ‘fresh grips’ on your favorite clubs to start the season off, and you won’t have to apply the ‘death grip’ to keep your clubs from flying out of your hands during a swing. While you are at it you might as well take out a brush and clean some of last year’s ‘final round’ out of the grooves as well. If you want to go the extra mile, replace the worn spikes in your shoes too.
