One of the most common mistakes in golf is not being able to find the proper impact position, caused by loss of posture or early extension, which typically leads to an early release or over the top cast. A great drill that will help you find consistency with striking the center of the clubface is called “Impact Fix.”
By emulating the proper impact position, it will give you a clear feeling of what position your hands should be in at impact. Once again, this is a great drill for golfers that are scooping or early releasing (casting the club). Begin the drill by setting up to the golf ball in a normal setup position, and then from there, without swinging the club back, move into your impact position by leaning your club shaft more forward and opening your hips and shoulder to the target. Make this impact position your start position and then make a swing and try to focus on returning to that position. Try this impact fix drill and you will start striking the ball much better.
Have fun, Matt Truong
