This is ideal for players that are predominantly arm swingers and need to work on their sequencing. Many players tend to use their arms excessively, what this drill does is take those arms out of the equation.
Simply setup and take the club back so it is level (parallel) to the ground; your hands are going to be over your trail thigh. Now without taking the club any further back, you are going to try to swing through to the finish position without any backswing (start without hitting a golf ball). You will feel powerless at first, however with practice you will feel a better synchronization between the upper and lower body. Due to the lack of momentum without a backswing you will feel the only way to generate power is using the proper sequence of lower body, trunk, arms and then club on the downswing. If you can learn to generate power from your legs, and your core, and your torso before you arms, that will set you on the right track to having great sequence and power in your golf swing.
