The RedTail Landing Junior Camps are now in full swing and what better tip to provide this month than one of my favourites that we use in our Junior Summer Camp Program. It is called “ZOO GOLF.”
In Zoo Golf, we get our junior golfers to pretend to be the following animals to help them with their chipping.
Bat – swing with eyes closed to feel the motion and head of the club move.
Penguin – swing with feet close together to create limited motion and a shorter swing, thus finding the center of the face more often.
Flamingo – swing standing on one foot (target foot) to help with keeping weight on target side and finding balance.
Elephant – get arms to resemble long trunk of an elephant, keeping the “Y” in the arms and shaft of the club to find the bottom of the swing arc more consistently.
To all parents, try this with your junior golfer and do not be shy to try it yourself, as this drill is great for everyone to improve their short game!
Have fun, Matt Truong
